The last time I spoke to IQads was about repositioning Grapefruit as a UX and digital product development agency. This time, my IQads interview is about what R/GA Bucharest plans to do in the future. Here are some of the most interesting parts of the full translated article.
15 years in the digital industry in Romania. That’s how much experience Ana Maria Bogdan brings to the table, who was appointed General Manager of R/GA Romania this spring. Her career to date includes, among other things, the development of the digital departments at ALTEX, Kanal D, and ING, as well as Grapefruit, the UX and digital product development agency she led from 2011 to 2014.
she told me during a conversation we had about R/GA’s plans in Romania and the challenges facing our digital market.
IQads: R/GA has been in Romania since 2012. Why hasn’t it communicated this until now?
It has communicated, but very little. The Romanian branch has been managed from the UK until now. Our clients are all from the network; we mainly work with the London office or the one in the United States. In the long term, we want to expand this; we’ll also work for other countries. What I can tell you is that R/GA doesn’t outsource in Romania; the branch here doesn’t just work on small projects—that’s not the case. Since there hasn’t been a General Manager until now, we haven’t communicated about the projects either. We plan to do that in the future.
We want to grow the team in Romania because we’re getting a lot of positive feedback. Everyone tells us that our technical staff are just as good as those in London or New York. R/GA stands out for its collaborative project-based work system: for a client in the United States, two people from Bucharest might work on content, a strategist and a creative from London, perhaps someone from Stockholm, and so on. It’s about dynamic resource allocation, and R/GA is known for its global resource management system—that is, in real time: you know exactly who’s doing what and when projects are finished; the agency excels in this area of collaborative work.
