Few years back I wrote Opposing Communism with Humor and said that:
Humor was a way of rebellion and survival at the same time; an escape of the mind and soul, a way of coping with all those absurd and restrictions imposed by a communist regime who did not care about its own people.
In short, just as during the dark days of the communist regime, I believe that Romanians are once again using humour to express their discontent and fight back. This time, they are fighting back against the political elite. I’m talking about a gang of politicians who have proven their incompetence and lack of compassion for the people they’re supposed to respect and support, for far too many years.
P.S. This blog post should be treated as a pamphlet and, as such, should be handled with the appropriate care and respect. According to the Romanian Explanatory Dictionary (aka DEX, 1998 edition), pamphlet is “A literary genre, in verse or prose, that is satirical in nature. In this genre, the writer portrays certain morality topics, political ideas, negative aspects of social reality, character traits and so on.”
