To be frank, this ranks among the most provocative recruitment tasks I’ve handled, yet also but it’s equally exciting! It brought back a favorite quote, one of my top five, which was printed on my Grapefruit UX & Digital Product Development Agency business card:

“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”
Walt Disney
The creator of Mickey Mouse & founder of Disneyland
So, if you resonate with it, I invite you to read further this job post. Not too long ago we would have simply said the Head of Engineering of Head of Tech, yet given the way technology evolves and impacts all aspects of our life by creating previously hard to imagine product experiences, is a Head of Tech/ Product.
HEAD OF TECH/ PRODUCT
In the not-so-distant past, we would have simply referred to this as a Head of Engineering or Head of Tech position. However, given the rapid pace of technological advancement, we are witnessing previously inconceivable transformations affecting both our personal and professional lives. Primarily, this has led to product and service experiences that were once hard, if not impossible, to envision, which is largely positive as they often simplify various activities. Secondly, and sometimes uncomfortably, it compels us to acquire and adapt to new and varied professional skills and competencies.
Straight from the CTO & Co-Founder
Your hands-on approach, creativity, drive to make a change, work environment ingrained in innovation and friendly-people should be the perfect mix to motivate you our client team. Much like a Unicorn, you are needed to help us take our 7 years old start-up to the next growth phase — global expansion (EU/South America/US). What we mean by this is that we are looking for an intrapreneurial team leader able to understand how our products impact the business verticals. Someone who has got the ability to grow both our products and Software Development (SD) team, and with a love for joggling multiple hats. To be clear, our expectations are as follows:
- Be comfortable with all these: multi-stack/ architecture; read and produce diagrams; understand to a reasonable extent data flows, infra, backend, frontend, mobile;
- Produce roadmaps/ tasks and manage delivery based on on mid level coordination (after 1 months on-boarding) and high level coordination (within 6 months from start);
- Have experience managing and coordinating multi-functional teams (backend, app, sdk, research, infra and vendor projects);
- Scrum / processes is important, but it is not core, as we are a small high-performance Senior Engineering and Research team; there is some degree of autonomy, if good planning and task definition;
- Passion, self-motivated, curiosity and desire to grow are essential;
- Experience in / through series A, B is a plus.
